About Our Founder
From her childhood years, she truly believed they can all be saved. Now Debbie Henry is continuing to empower an army of rescue angels to make that belief reality.
.Located in Northern Virginia, ANIMAL ANGEL AID was founded by Debbie Henry, a life-long animal advocate, rescue adopter & volunteer, and multiple failed foster. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to assisting animal rescues & organizations throughout the U.S. in their efforts to save abandoned and abused animals. She is an advocate for the adoption of “SPECIAL ANGELS”, youth humane education, and unowned community cats and street dogs.
PAWTECTORS, Youth Humane Education Program, was created to teach animal compassion after her beloved cat Tux was shot in Debbie’s own barn by a neighbor’s child who was angry at his parents. Tux’s leg was amputated after the bullet shattered his shoulder and elbow. He lived 5 more fabulous feline years as a “TRIPOD” zooming the house with his 4-legged companions. Tux’s surgeon said animals are resilient and fighters when their physical body changes….it’s their humans who get consumed with emotions. Debbie calls these warrior animals “SPECIAL ANGELS”.

Proud parent of “SPECIAL ANGELS” – Michael aka Mr. “Wonder Whiskers” , blind from birth & deaf at 15. Debbie adopted him at 10 months after he was given up for “missing the litter box”. He crossed rainbow bridge last summer but we love knowing he finally has sight and is watching over us.
Debbie’s is a frequent hospice foster for terminally ill animals who need to know LOVE & a home in their final days. There is no greater joy to “pause for paw” & be there for them.
Zippy’s Fund was affectionately created in honor of Zippy, the canine love of her life, which provides funding for spay, neuter and trap-neuter-release.
Her happy household is shared with Sam, FIV+ cat (who Debbie rescued from euthanasia) along with Ty, Zeus, Gizmo, Lucy, Tiger, Jaspurr & Luna – “CRAZY GOOD CAT CREW”.
